Young musicians need quality opportunities to perform and to test themselves against their peers. At the same time, the cost of studying music at tertiary level has never been higher, and this is especially prohibitive for those students who wish to study overseas.

The Australian Youth Classical Music Competition provides an important platform and goal for instrumentalists at a crucial stage of their studies, encouraging both the young musicians themselves and Australia as a nation towards the highest standards of excellence in musicianship and artistry.

At a time when the arts are under increasing pressure, with public funding and advocacy in decline, it is events like the AYCMC, run by committed music lovers and supported by local business, which help to nurture the next generation of Australian musical talent and advocate for classical music at the local and national level.
