Joy began her piano studies at the age of six, and is currently completing a Bachelor of Music (Performance) Honours degree at the SCM, with Dr. Paul Rickard-Ford. Joy was a scholarship recipient of the SCM from 2014 to 2019, the Henderson Traveller Scholarship (2019 & 2022), Mendelssohn Scholarship (2022). In 2016, Joy attained her L-MusA Diploma with Distinction. And in 2020, Joy has won the Theme and Variations Piano Foundation Award.

 

Throughout the years, Joy has gained many awards in national and international competitions. Recently in 2021, Joy received ‘Honorable Mention’ at the Lancaster International Competition. She was also a finalist at the Nordic International; in the Balys Dvarionas Competition, she obtained the prize for the ‘Best Performance of 20th Century Music’, and ‘Finalist in Absentia’. In 2022, Joy has won First Prize at the Orbetello International Competition with the highest point, and Second Prize in the Richter Award.
